My favorite all-black workout apparel

My entire assortment of workout attire is black. Because I’m partial to black clothing, but also because it’s slimming, sweat isn’t as obvious, and I can throw it all in the laundry machine together. Feeling confident in the gym is important to help you get the most out of your workout and to keep you coming back. Invest in workout apparel that makes you feel good.

Sports bras

I hate for my clothes to be uncomfortable. Sports bras that cut into my shoulders and put pressure on my neck make me irritable and unpleasant to be around. To combat this, I’ve sought out some of the most comfortable sports bras on the market. The Nike Indy sport bra is great for low-impact workouts like yoga. For more support, I love the Lululemon Ebb to Street Bra II.

Leggings

I prefer my leggings to have a sleek feel rather than a soft, cotton-y feel. My go-to leggings are the Lululemon Wunder Under High-Rise Tight 28.” They’re ultra light and perfect for Summer. Full disclosure, the high-rise waistband does sag during high intensity workouts, so they aren’t ideal for pairing with a crop-top. The Ultracor Black Leggings in Ultra High Nero are perfect if you prefer leggings that hug to the barely-there sensation of the Wunder Unders.

Tees

I like to workout in cotton tees because, while they aren’t quick-drying, they’re breathable and made of a natural material. I love Zara’s basics for both inside and outside of the gym.

On the go

I live in the Lululemon On the Fly 7/8 Pant. When it’s cold, they slip easily on and off over my leggings for the walk to and from the gym. When it’s warm, they’re perfect for everyday wear. They’re stretchy and comfortable while still looking professional.

My Madewell Tokyo Rider Bomber Jacket is still one of my favorite pieces years later. You can still nab one on sites like Ebay and Mercari.

On my feet

By no means should you run out and buy the sneakers that work for me. The shoes that you exercise in are a personal choice that should be based on the workout and personal comfort. That said, Nike Air Zoom Elevates are perfect for me because they’re designed for boxing and training, and they’re comfortable to walk in around the city.

Socks that are super thick or thin change the fit of my sneakers. To keep it consistent, I have a large collection of Balega Hidden Dry Running Socks in black that keep my feet dry and prevent my sneakers from rubbing.

If you’re in the market for new activewear, Bandier’s website has a great selection of curated fitness apparel.
