Summer sun protection for sensitive skin

As it gets warmer in New York, we’re all starting to daydream about long Summer days in the sun. Here are some ways to protect even the most sensitive skin from harmful UV rays.

Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-on Shield in SPF 50

This powdered mineral sunscreen is a great alternative to setting powder for everyday sun protection.  It comes in four shades, fair, medium, tan, and deep. It’s water resistant up to 80 minutes and is easy to carry with you and reapply.

VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Sunscreen

Protect yourself from indoor and outdoor UVA, UVB, Infrared, and Visible Light with Armada sunscreen products by VMV Hypoallergenics.  Armada sunscreen formulations are non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic specifically for acne-prone and sensitive skin types.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen Spray

I have a love-hate relationship with spray-on sunscreen.  I love the ease, but I’m not crazy about the texture, or about missing a spot.  I also don’t love the idea of aerosolizing something that’s intended for external use, not inhaling.

That said, Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Sunscreen Spray is easy to apply, has a non-greasy feel, and comes in SPF 30, 45, 70 and 100+.  Throw a bottle in your bag for low maintenance reapplication on long Summer days at beach or by the pool.

Protect your eyes with a chic pair of sunnies

When we think of sun damage, our minds go straight to our skin, but UV exposure may also lead to cataracts.  Throw a pair of sunglasses in your bag this Summer so that you’re never without them.

Keep the sun off your face with a hat

A straw hat is a great way to keep the sun off of your face and your scalp.  We love hats from Aussie brand Lack of Colour, and designer Janessa Leone. There’s no excuse not to bring a packable hat on your next trip.

Find more packable straw hats like this one on Janessa Leon’s website.
